Hardwood Floors are a common staple in home and even the most beaten up floors can be restored by a professional.
Although replacement windows are a great idea for energy efficient. It is possible some careful weatherstripping and sealing your windows can improve the efficiency of your window. If replacement is necessary ensure you pick windows that will fit the character of your home.
If you are plaster walls and ceiling in your old house, keep then if you can. They offer character, as well as soundproofing modern drywall cannot.
Careful examine your doors for you home and you may not need to replace them. With some elbow grease and time you may be able to strip away the paint that have covered them for years and be able to restore them to be once again beautiful doors.

Who qualifies for the military homebuyer tax credit extension?
Members of the uniformed services, members of the Foreign Service and employees of the intelligence community who served on qualified official extended duty service outside the U.S. for at least 90 days during the period beginning after Dec. 31, 2008 and ending before May 1, 2010.
How much is the credit?
First-time buyers receive up to a credit of $8,000. Long-time homeowners receive up to a credit of $6,500.
What is the new deadline for using the tax credit?
Eligible homebuyers must enter into a binding contract to buy a principal residence on or before April 30, 2011. The taxpayer then has until June 30, 2011 to close on the purchase.
Which properties are eligible?
Any single-family home (including condos, co-ops, townhouses) that will be used as a taxpayer’s primary residence.

Congress is giving home buyers a $6,500 tax break!
First-time home buyers have been getting tax credits of up to $8,000 since January as part of the economic stimulus package enacted earlier this year. The program that was scheduled to expire at the end of November, the Senate voted Wednesday to extend and expand the tax credit to include many buyers who already currently own homes. The House could vote on the bill as early as Thursday.
Buyers who have owned their current homes at least five years would be eligible for tax credits of up to $6,500. First-time home buyers — or anyone who hasn’t owned a home in the last three years — would still get up to $8,000. To qualify, buyers in both groups have to sign a purchase agreement by April 30, 2010, and close by June 30.
